Crisis/Respite Beds

For clients who are residents of St. Louis County, the RMHC has made arrangements for a few crisis respite beds for individuals with mental health problems. Usually the beds are provided for individuals who find themselves temporarily without shelter or due to a crisis situation can not remain in their current living setting. These beds are not available for long term use, but for a crisis situation only.  Because of the short term nature of the availability of these beds, if someone is homeless they should first determine if they can stay with a friend, relative, etc. rather than respite.  We try to keep these beds open for situations when it is the only option.

 The beds are located at:

                        Hillcrest Hibbing

                        Hillcrest Chisholm

                        Merritt House in Virginia

Typically entry into the crisis/respite beds is only available during working hours.  To access the beds, an individual or staff member should contact Sally Ribarczek at the Perpich building (218) 263-9237.

Homeless Shelter

There is a homeless shelter in both Virginia and Hibbing which is not run by the Range Mental Health Center.  In Virginia, call 741-2063.  In Hibbing, call 263-8487.

Youth Shelter

For children age’s infant to 17, Lutheran Social Services runs the Family Resource Center in Virginia.  This facility provides temporary crisis housing for children and adolescents.  They are located in Virginia, (218) 741-3343.
